Eric Hubbard

Central Elementary Principal

Eric Hubbard has been the Principal at Central Elementary for 4 years, and this is making his 5th year. Before becoming principal, he taught English at Knox Central High School. While his focus was mostly English II, over his tenure there he taught all grades 9-12.

Teaching and being the leader of Central Elementary are not all of the things that make up Mr. Hubbard's resume or list of experiences in education. He served as a SBDM Council member, department chair, PLC lead, girls' assistant basketball coach, and head boys golf coach. He was on the safety team and helped in many other ways while at Knox Central.

This has been a challenging year for all educators, but Mr. Hubbard has set one goal this year that he is working towards whether his students are in-person or at home.

"One goal that I have for this year is to see our students get caught back up from not being here as last year ended the way it did, and to see them all learn at their highest level possible!"

Speaking from his own experience of moving from the classroom to school principal, Mr. Hubbard has words of wisdom to share with his colleagues that are wanting to move into a curriculum coach, assistant or head principal position, or beyond that as a consultant.

"The best advice is to always remember no matter what position you have, or what your role is, it takes us all to help our Students grow and be the best they can. Whether you are a Principal, Teacher, Cook, Custodian, Bus Driver, Instructional Asst., or Office Worker, we all have been called to help serve our Students, and together we will always be Better and Stronger for our Schools and Students!"

Mr. Hubbard enjoys being a principal at Central Elementary. It is a lot more than what students and staff sees.

"The most enjoyable part of being a principal is simply seeing our students grow daily, as well as our teachers and staff! Some think that being a principal makes you the boss, but in my opinion your role as a principal is to be a helper for all, and to do all you can to make everyone around you better at their craft!"

He has made great memories already at the school, starting with the opportunity to return home to lead the school.

"First, just getting selected to help lead the Best School, and CES being the school I attended when it was Boone Elementary was very special for me. One of my most memorable moments since being the Principal at CES, was when our school became a Proficient School and then a 4 Star School! Seeing the hard work from our Dedicated and Amazing Teachers and Staff payoff was very rewarding, and to get to celebrate that with our Awesome Students was even better!"

For seeing students grow, Mr. Hubbard hopes that more students will listen to the call to pursue education as a major in college.

"Going into Education in my opinion is a calling. It takes a special person to work with children in any capacity, and if you feel this is your calling then be sure to always do what is best for all students always!"

From teacher to principal, growing up Mr. Hubbard had another Mr. Hubbard, his dad and former principal, to look up to.

"The most inspiring person that led to me choosing Education as my career was my Dad! Michael Lane Hubbard was the one who molded me into becoming a teacher, and inspired me to want to become a principal. My dad loved working with children and cared deeply about helping them grow into the best person they could. As a teacher and principal himself, he showed me what it took to be a great teacher and principal through hard work and dedication to his students and school at Dewitt Elementary. He also instilled in me to Trust in the Lord, and if I put God first everything else will take care of itself. While I wish every day that he was still here with us, I know he’s watching over me and my family, and one day we will talk all about me becoming a principal in Glory Land!"

Away from Central Elementary, Mr. Hubbard has a variety of interests.

"I love golf, and anything golf! I am a huge Tiger Woods fan, and I love my Kentucky Wildcats! I can also play the drums, and love eating all kinds of foods!

Most of all, I love my children Rhylie and Mason very much, and have the best support system at home because my wife Kendra goes above and beyond for all of us! I am a member at Springfield Baptist Church, and I am a firm believer in the Bible, which makes me a Sinner Saved by Grace!"
