Many of our Family Resource / Youth Service Centers talk about family. From serving the families of the school they are at, to volunteering to help other FRYSC provide for families at their school, it's the FRYSC "family" helping families.
DeLisa Estes's story of being #FRYSCStrong echos that of her FRYSC "family" In her own words, we asked DeLisa to tell us why she loves being a FRYSC.
There are many reasons I love being the Family Resource Center Coordinator at Lay Elementary. First of all, I get to be a part of a very caring family whose goal is to see all students succeed. Every time there is a need in a student’s life, faculty and staff here are ready to help, usually without even being asked.
Secondly, I get paid to help others. What a satisfying position to be in. Nothing can replace the love I feel when I deliver angel tree gifts at Christmas or food to someone in need. The joy of watching students have fun while learning something new is so fulfilling.
Thirdly, I have met so many wonderful people in our community that are willing to step up to make a difference for our students. FRYSC could not function without the help of our community partners.
Finally, my FRYSC family, including our dedicated leaders Gina Sears and Russell Jones, is one the most loving and hard working groups I have ever been associated with. I have seen them deal with situations that would cause many people to resign. Yet, they continue because they have such huge hearts. God has certainly blessed me to be a part of this wonderful family.
