This writing piece is out of this world!

Students were assigned a planet to research and write about. Check out the interesting facts the students discovered.

Jupiter

By: Delbert Taylor and Sophia Cederstrom

Jupiter is the fastest spinning planet. It is also the fifth planet from the sun. Jupiter has a lot of clouds that are only 50 km thick. Did you know that it has 67 moons? Wow! That´s a lot. Jupiter´s magnetic field is 14 times stronger than Earth´s. It has rings and is home to what some people call the big red dot.

Mars

By: Evelyn Branch and Madison Willson

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun in our solar system. It is known as the red planet. One year on Earth is 365 days, but one year on Mars is 687 days. It has lots of volcanoes and craters. The average temperature is -81 degrees. Mars is also the second smallest planet in our solar system. Mars is smaller than Earth with a diameter of 4217 miles and it has two moons called Deimos and Phobos.

Saturn

By: Alexis Matlock and Bentley Ward

Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun in our solar system. It has glorious rings. The rings are not solid. They are huge but very thin. Saturn could float in water since it is mostly made up of gas. It is also the least dense planet in the solar system. It is like a flattened ball. Saturn has only been visited 4 times by spacecraft and it has 62 moons.

Neptune

By: Kyle Hammons and Addisyn Mills

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun in the solar system. It is also the farthest planet from the sun which means it is very cold. One day on Neptune is 16 hours and 6 minutes long. It is 17 times the mass of the Earth and slightly more massive than Uranus. It has the strongest winds in the solar system as well. It is also 58 times bigger than Earth. Neptune´s year lasts for almost 165 earth years.
