Reagan brings us an update on the Governor's Cup team at Central Elementary in her reporting assignment.

Our Central Elementary School Governor’s team consists of members of the academic team and other students in grades 3rd through 5th grades. The team members are Easton Stovall, the only 3rd grade student on the team, 4th grade students Kaiden Stamper, Sophie Holstein, and Kathryn Vaughn, and 5th grade students Gabrielle McVey, Tehya Hubbard, Courtney Dunn, Karissa Buchanan, and Drake Cobb. Mrs. Partin is the coach of the Governor’s Cup team at our school and the assistant coach is Mrs.Brummett.

In the district Governor’s Cup competition, our team placed 2nd overall and 2nd in quick recall. Several students placed in different content areas in the competition. In Math, Tehya Hubbard placed 3rd and Gabriel Mcvey placed 4th. In Social Studies, Drake Cobb placed 3rd and Gabriel McVey placed 4th. In Arts and Humanities, Courtney Dunnn placed 1st, Easton Stovall placed 3rd, and Kathryn Vaughn placed 5th. In Composition, Courtney Dunn placed 3rd and Karissa Buchanan placed 4th. In Science, Gabriel McVey placed 1st and 2nd place was Kaiden Stamper, and Drake Cobb placed 5th. In Language Arts, Tehya Hubbard placed 2nd and Sophie Holstein placed 3rd. Mrs. Partin and our school were very proud of our Governor’s cup team for putting forth their best effort.

Mrs Marti Partin says she loves coaching the Governor’s Cup team because she enjoys spending time with the students and seeing them learn and succeed. She said that the team members get along with each other very well and they all work together to be the best possible team they can be. Their teamwork is what makes them successful. Mrs. Brummet said that helping coach the Governor’s Cup team is challenging, but also exciting.

Our Governor’s Cup team will compete at the regional level on March 5th. Mrs. Partin thinks the team will do very well based on their performance at the district competition. Although she believes it will be challenging and difficult, she is confident that they will do great. I hope everyone will join me in wishing our team good luck at regionals.
