Home / District News / Annual Veterans Day Ceremony
KISD has officially scheduled its traditional veterans day ceremony for November 11th. This is a tradition that goes back for decades here at KISD. The ceremony takes place in the vulcan gym, where the veterans will sit on the gym floor to be recognized by the Knippa Community. A slide show plays above, showcasing pictures of the honorees during their service. KISD Student Council members take turns speaking and sharing the meaning of their sacrifices and what they fought for. In the last few years, KISD Superintendent Benny Hernandez has taken time out of the ceremony to read the President's Veterans Day Proclamation. Mr. Hernandez is expected to deliver the remarks on behalf of President Donald Trump. This and so much more happens during the ceremony.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic, KISD was not able to host the annual ceremony. However a new addition to the ceremony was born, The Veterans Day Parade. Students, Faculty and Guests line up all around the roads that surround the school. Veterans proudly honk and wave at their supporters. In years past, community members have donated retired military vehicles for the veterans to ride in.
These combined traditions will take place here at KISD, with the ceremony beginning at 8:30 AM, and the parade immediately following after.
