Be Part of the Band Video

This video is a great introduction to what it's like to be involved in a band program at a middle school and high school level. The students in the video are actual band students at a varying degree of ability levels.

Band Instrument Demonstration

This is a great way for students to see and hear professional musicians demonstrating the instruments of the band and may give them an idea of what instrument they might like to play.

OTHER AVENUES OF COMMUNICATION

Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School offers a band program to the elementary schools that are a part of the KML Federation. Once each week an instrumental instructor visits each elementary school to give students private music lessons. The lesson program consists of teaching the students the basics of their instruments and reading music.

Large group rehearsals are held at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School on Monday evenings. The students are split into three groups: the beginners are in the Colt Band, the second year students are in the Maverick Band and the more advanced students are in the Mustang Band. Students in the Mustang Band may also participate in Jazz Band. At these rehearsals students learn more about playing their instruments, meet new people and have other opportunities not available to them as a solo player. Performances for the groups include two major concerts in December and May, Family Music, and other smaller events throughout the year. Our Maverick and Mustang Band students also participate in the West Bend Memorial Day Parade at the end of the year.

Students also participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival held at KML in March. There students will have the opportunity to play in solo and small ensemble settings.

If you have any other questions, please contact Mr. Amundson by email at nate.amundson@kmlhs.org or by phone at 262-677-4051 x1410.
