Brief Introduction of School

The school was established on August 1st, 1968. It was originally planned as the experimental school that implemented nine-year compulsory education of national middle school; therefore, it was set up in the former municipal kindergarten old site with only 4231 sq.m. (about 1280 level ground), which was adjacent to Da-Tung Elementary School,. It was first named as Taichung Municipal Ninth Junior High School. As all the junior high schools in the city were renamed in 1972, the school changed its name into ??Taichung Municipal Kuang-Ming Junior High School?? because it was located in the neighborhood called Kuang-Ming.

Thereafter, the campus was becoming more and more crowded relatively due to the yearly increasing number of students. To offer students a balanced and quality environment of learning and educating, Principal Shih had been striving for the chance of moving the whole school to the other proper position since 1991. In January of 1996, the construction of new campus was initiated and soon completed in June of 1997.

One month later, all the faculty and students moved into this whole new campus that blends with tradition and innovation, and provides a multi-functional, human, living and self-learning environment. In August of 1997, principal Shih retired with high achievement and Principal Ke succeeded leading the school into a brand-new era.

In the space planning of the campus, the teaching area and sport area are separated. The classroom includes the studying area, service area, learning information corner. Recreation space, drinking water area, and the resource collection station are set up on every floor. And every four classrooms share an opening space with a multi-functional classroom and the learning square which can offer a place for open education. In addition, we have classical corridors, the comfortable and bright outdoor lecture-theater, modern audio-visual center, the concert hall, etc. The main demands of our school are to put emphasis on the living, humanization, and multi-function.

The new location of the school lies at the crossroads of Chi-You Road and Kung-Kuan Road, not far from Taichung Train Station and near National Taichung Girls?? Senior High School and Taichung District Court.
