Welcome to 8th grade Social Studies! We will be looking at the history of our great country this year. Our journey will start in the first settlements of Jamestown and Plymouth, we will move into our Revolution and Independence, and follow the accomplishments of our people and presidents all the way to the Civil War and the Reconstruction. The 8th grade team is so excited to share our knowledge with you throughout this journey!

My father instilled me with a love of history but it was my 7th Grade Texas History teacher who truly made it come alive for me. It was when I stood upon the Little Big Horn Battlefield in 1990 that I realized that teaching history would be my true calling. I have taught World History, Texas History and US History. I love teaching it all. But if I had to pick a favorite era to teach, it would be the early 1800’s. The people of that era were larger than life. - J. Wilson
My mentor when I first started teaching was a history teacher. I loved going to that class and watching her fill the students with knowledge and wonder. The way she taught history made it so much fun and because of that, I knew that was what I wanted to teach. I love engaging with the students and making history come to life for them, helping them understand who we are as a nation, based on where we came from. - K. Bieberle
It was my 7th grade Texas History teacher who made me fall in love with history. He was able to bring the history out of the textbook and into our classroom. This was the spark that created a passion for the love of history. I have taught World Cultures, Texas History, and U.S. History for the last past 14 years. - J. Gomez

I like looking at how battles and cases have a very huge effect on the world, like Hitler being in control or not.
I liked Ms. Robertson actually talking to us and explaining the stories. Also her breaking things down and the 10 amendments was really fun but also stressful , but it made me get it and remember it, I liked this class in general.
I like the class because she doesn’t just make all about work, she also makes it about having fun. She makes studying more fun than just sitting there being bored.
