Beginning Theatre Arts is a year round course for 6th graders that provides the basic skills of vocal technique, stage directions and physical movement that actors must know to perform on the stage. It also includes basic props construction and costume development to introduce the students to technical elements of theatre. This class is high energy and fun and will help sixth graders gain the confidence they need to speak or present in any class.
Students develop confidence through improvisation and theatre games. They will improve their physicality through pantomime presentations which they create. Students will improve vocal techniques through many performances, including readers theatre, monologues, scenes, and puppetry. The puppet unit is one of the most loved by students. They make their own puppets, write their own scripts, and perform a puppet show.
All Beginning students will have the opportunity to audition for our Strack STARS presentations. We perform at the Klein ISD One Act Play Festival and have an end of the year class presentation. The Strack theatre department is full of shining stars and the Beginning students are welcome to be a part of it all!

Come learn about the aspects of Technical Theatre in our one semester course offered at Strack Intermediate. This Introductory course includes many design elements such as, makeup, costume, props, set, and lighting/sound. Students begin with learning the basics about stage spaces, safety, and tools then move into the elements of art and principles of design so that they can begin their designing journey. Students learn the language of tech theatre, develop marketing skills (including creating a show poster), build props, create a scaled backdrop, and create a lighting Gobo. Students read a play together to analyze and use in the various technical units. We hope to see you behind the scenes next year in the Strack Theatre Department.
