Many genres are studied in 8
th grade ELA, including but not limited to: fiction, expository, poetry, historical fiction, persuasion, drama, and mythology. Research will also be integrated throughout the year. A typical week in an ELA classroom would involve a few days of mini-lessons and guided practice followed by a few days of independent practice. Students will compose various writing pieces across multiple genres. Klein Prep (KP) ELA will cover more advanced and mature topics. As a class, the work will be more independently guided and facilitated by the teacher. Students can have more freedom to choose the way in which they want to demonstrate the material they are learning.
