The goal of 6th Grade Klein Prep (KP) World Cultures is to build on students’ essential skills and confidence to prepare them for a wide range of future KP courses. While we cover the same material as the Regular World Cultures class, KP is distinguished from it in many ways. KP students already have a deeper understanding of the content and have a desire to want to learn more about the world. KP students enjoy current events, watching the news, talking about the world today, and offering insight into their own culture. They use this interest to discover how these events impact them and the society in which they live. They are able to contribute to class discussions on a wide range of topics, including these current events. They seek out extension opportunities in order to learn more on their own with minimal guidance from teacher or parent. They enjoy integrating a wide range of technology with no limits to their engagement or creativity knowing they are accountable for self-managing responsibilities. KP students are often self-driven, motivated, and excited to come to class each day. They are willing to go above and beyond while seeking out the ‘what ifs’, ‘how comes’, and ‘let me find out’ consistently throughout lessons and the school year. KP World Culture students strive to create a pathway for extended learning throughout the school year in order to be better prepared for future KP History classes.
