School History

In the early 1840s, Wilhem Lemm moved to Texas from Germany. He and his wife homesteaded land near Klein, Texas. Members of the Lemm family still live in Wilhem’s old home. Lemm Elementary opened in 1980 and honors the Lemm family.

School Rating

Lemm Elementary is rated as a Met Standard campus and has earned three Distinction Designations. The designations are in these areas: Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA, Top 25% Closing Performance Gaps, and Postsecondary Readiness.

Counseling Program

The Lemm counseling program includes character education, bullying prevention, drug-free awareness, classroom lessons, individual and group lessons, gifted and talented identification, behavior and crisis interventions, mentor programs, peer and resolution mediation, and the Second Step program.

Second Step was purchased with Klein Education Foundation Grant and promotes school success by learning, having empathy, managing emotions, and solving problems

Parent Involvement

Parents make Lemm rock. Volunteers serve as homeroom liaisons, library helpers, classroom helpers, Watch D.O.G.S., and helping hands. Fundraising activities are sponsored by our PTO, and include Fall Festival Carnival, chocolate sales, and Fun Run. Funds raised are use for weekly folders, agenda books, winter and spring parties, cultural arts, teacher materials, playground equipment and repairs, and hospitality events for the faculty and staff.

Core Curriculum

At Lemm, we offer a variety of program that supplement instruction. Programs include science labs, math contests, spelling bee, Fifthsonian Living Museum, Career day, fifth grade transition day, and many other motivating activities. Students are being introduced to Chrome Books and Google Classroom using their personal email accounts.

English Language Arts

In the elementary ELA program, the emphasis is on the development of fundamental reading and writing skills. Reading instruction includes training in phonics, structural analysis, sight word recognition, context clues, vocabulary development, comprehension, study skills, and literary appreciation. Writing instruction teaches students how to use written language appropriately. Instruction includes specific training in grammar, spelling, handwriting, word usage, punctuation, and capitalization as well as more generalized training in composing written expressions. Skills in speaking and listening are also taught with the instruction for reading and writing.

Math

At the elementary level, students build a foundation of basic understanding for the following: number operation and quantitative reasoning; patterns, relationships, and algebraic thinking; geometry and spatial reasoning; measurement; and probability and statistics.

Science

At the elementary level, students learn science foundational skills and how to identify components of the natural world. Students study life, earth, and physical science concepts.

Social Studies

In grades K-12, students build a foundation in history, geography, economics, government, citizenship, culture, science, technology and society, and social studies skills. The content, as appropriate for the grade level or course, enables students to understand the importance of patriotism, function in a free enterprise society, and appreciate the basic democratic values of our state and nation
