We are the Metzler Elementary Destination Imagination Team, the DInamic Mystical Magical Thinkers and we believe in

COLOR CREATIVITY

We had to choose a need in a community and come up with a unique and creative way to solve it.

THE COMMUNITY NEED: We felt that when we visited our grandparents and elders they were forgetting some things. We wanted to change this.

THE SOLUTION: We made coloring and activity books to help people stretch their brains and come to help their memory.

A Wrinkle of Color represents a coloring challenge with a coloring and activity book we created to entertain and stretch your BRAIN!

We researched the effects of coloring activities for people living with dementia and it shows positive outcomes like a decrease in agitation and anxiety. The benefits of coloring comes from a participant’s need to concentrate. We chose pictures people can recognize from daily life or from past experiences such as landscape, flowers, birds, and other images.

A research study from USA Today shows that engaging seniors in creative activities like coloring can improve their health, lead to fewer doctor visits, reduce medication, and decrease the number of health problems.
