Career Prep will help you with the skills you need to get a job. You'll learn how to interview for jobs, create resumes as well as electronic portfolios, cover letters, and complete new hire paperwork. You'll also learn about workplace policies and procedures, professional and nonverbal communications. We'll explore financial topics (paychecks, difference between gross and net pay, paycheck deductions, benefits, investment opportunities, and filing taxes). You'll also develop your "Soft Skills" (appearance, attendance, conduct, initiative, communication, etc.) to be competitive in today's job market. While developing your technology skills in Microsoft Office, G Suite and other web applications, you'll be able to market these skills to future employers and colleges. Career Prep counts as 2 credits if you work 10 hours per week and 3 credits if you work 15 hours per week. Also, 30% of your grade is based on how well you do at your job. An employer evaluation is given to your supervisor and they grade your performance every 6 weeks.
