AVID is a class designed to help you become a better student and help prepare you for college. Students who take AVID will learn how to apply for scholarships, perform community service, learn how to be a strong college applicant, become a more well-rounded student while in high school, and much more. Throughout the school year, we bring in college representatives to speak to our students and students go on field trips twice a year to universities. The purpose of AVID is to help give students a college mindset right from the beginning. From 9th grade through 12th grade, almost everything we do is preparing you to become college ready. If you want to do well in school and have a desire to go to college, AVID is a great fit for you!
In class you will do a variety of activities! Twice a week we do in class tutorials, not after school, but IN CLASS! This is where we have students get into small groups and work together. In those groups they will work together to help one of their group members with something they need help on in a class. College-aged tutors come to the classroom and and aide in the tutorial process!
