Air Force Junior ROTC is a Leadership Development program which teaches students Leadership and Followership skills through classes such as Stress Management, Understanding Behaviors, Functions of Management, Money Management as well as classes in Aerospace Science to include flight, weather, and space.
So many people think that if you are in AFJROTC, you are joining the Armed Forces or military. The program is not about recruiting for the military but about teaching high school students how to be better leaders for future jobs and careers. We take field trips to military bases, Johnson Space Center, Washington DC; all to see what we are taught in the classroom put into action. We compete in drill competitions against other high school JROTC programs to show a competitive side of AFJROTC. The program teaches us to communicate more effectively without fear of speaking in front of other people.
Students learn how to lead each other through many hands-on experiences.
