This class helps students understand our physical world using a scientific lens. It provides a preview of what kind of laws of nature govern the universe, both at a macro and a micro level. Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles.

The Newtonian Physics (Kinematics and Mechanics) that we cover in the first semester helps students understand the physical world by applying laws of motion to macro objects such cars, trucks, bikes, planets.

The second semester focuses on the study of waves, electricity, magnetism, quantum mechanics that helps understand the forces between macro particles such as atoms, electrons and other sub-atomic particles.

Students find this course to be very helpful as they see it as an applied math class which helps solidify their math skills. Many of our students comment that the class teaches them data analysis and date interpretation techniques as the course is designed to enhance the skills of the students to analyze graphs. Students have also found this class to be helpful in doing well on the college entrance exams such as SAT and ACT.

What happens in class?

We do many labs to solidify the students' learning. Students also do many explore activities that will help them test the many Physics laws that they learn as part of this course. We do projects where students put to use their theoretic knowledge construct Physical models such as Electric quiz boards.
