Environmental Systems is an exploration into the many sciences that directly affect us all daily, and that will likely increase in its significance to us with time. Students are introduced to the scientific study of our environment, as well as the technological, social, political, and economic challenges required for the understanding and critical examination of global issues. Topics covered include: Energy Flow, Ecosystems & Biomes, Pollution, Environmental Justice, Sustainability, Resource Use, Waste Management, Weather & Climate and Population Dynamics

"Environmental Systems was the best class I took my senior year. This class was about the nitrogen cycle and how it helps all biotic and abiotic organisms in the world. One of my favorite activities that we did was build our own little ecosystem in a mason jar."

What happens in class?

During class students participate in a variety of activities while exploring environmental topics that help them to realize their role in improving and maintaining the environment around them.
