English 3

Teacher Voice

In English 3, students will continue to add to and refine the essential skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and conventions of the English language while exploring American Literature. The curriculum will foster a learning environment using Lead4Ward techniques to encourage students to analyze and infer a deeper meaning while reading across genres. Students will read a wide variety of literary and informative texts, compose a variety of well-organized and detailed texts, listen to others and contribute their own ideas in groups, and learn and apply the standards of English in speaking and writing. Students will be expected to successfully complete a variety of assessments including versatile writing and choice board projects.

What happens in class?

Students will read and write independently and in groups daily. They will participate in class discussions both in class and online. They will contribute their ideas and opinions while listening to their classmates in order to gain a better understanding of literary characteristics and writing conventions.
