It's time to move past traditional worksheets! Kami empowers you to design learning experiences that provide students with choices to demonstrate understanding and flexibility to access information.

Kami is an online document annotation and markup tool. You can highlight, underline, and strikethrough text; add text boxes, shapes, audio recordings, videos, and images; create and solve equations. Kami assignments can be added to Schoology and works with Google Drive. Teachers can easily send students individual or collaborative documents using links & QR codes.

How to Log in with Kami

Step 1
Install the Kami extension from the Chrome store.
Turn on the extension by clicking the gray puzzle piece in the top right corner of your browser. Once you click on the puzzle piece, your extensions will be listed. If the pin is turned blue, then your extension is pinned to the browser.

Step 2
Login to the Kami extension by clicking on the extension. Teachers and students will click Log in With Google and select their Google account. Click Yes that you are using an LMS, and select Schoology. Last, click on allow so that Kami has access.

⭐ Important Note: The Kami extention has been added to all student Chromebooks. Teachers need to install the extension before using the app.

Add a Kami Assignment

Add Media is used to insert images from your computer, Google Drive, Google Image Search, OneDrive, and YouTube. You can also insert stickers!

Signature is used to upload and store your signature to sign PDF files. You can also draw a signature on touch devices.

Select allows you to interact with the file without creating annotations. This is mainly used for copying and pasting text from the page.

Dictionary allows students to select a word that they would like defined. Currently, only English is supported.

Read Aloud allows students to have the text read aloud. The reading speed and volume are adjustable. They can hear the whole page read aloud, skip ahead by sentences, and have the ability to adjust the speed of the speech.

Markup provides students with different ways that they can annotate using Kami. Clicking on Markup will show the students the different options that they have available.

Comment allows students to highlight a section of text and then input comments. It will also allow students to add Video and Audio comments.

The Equation allows students to create equations by using the symbols palette.

Drawing allows for freehand drawings to be placed anywhere on the document. The stroke thickness and transparency can be adjusted. Holding shift before drawing will allow you to create a perfectly straight line.

Shapes allow you to draw shapes on your PDF. You can add circles, squares, and line shapes. The size, color, and transparency can be adjusted.

Eraser can be used to erase shapes, text, signatures, and drawings that have been made on your PDF. There are two versions of the Eraser Tool. One will clear any annotations made to the document and the other will only clear drawings and shapes.
