Science PreAP 6th

Grade 6 Science - Pre-AP/Pre-AP GT

Grade 6 Science is an introductory overview of the three main disciplines of Science: Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science. This course serves as a foundational class for 8th Grade curriculum which is STAAR Tested. Sixth Grade Science is designed to challenge students to become independent thinkers, problem solvers, and studious observers. Students will be challenged to examine and interpret different models including those that show change and constancy, patterns, cycles, systems, and scale in various units of study. The level of instruction/curriculum will focus on preparing the student for advanced placement courses. Gifted and Talented students are serviced through the Pre-AP course.

Students expectations include participation in safe self-led experimentation, independent research/projects, and cooperative group work. Students should also maintain acute organization and study skills.

Prerequisites for this course: Competence in independent Mathematic Calculations.
