About Us

Mrs. Cooper

This is my 16th year of teaching elementary music. My undergraduate degree is in piano performance from Tarleton State University. I also have a Master of Music degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Texas Tech University. I taught piano for several years before coming to the elementary music classroom. I have also completed all three levels of the Kodaly certification. My focus in the general music classroom is for the students to be actively engaged in musical experiences. I do this through the use of folk songs, singing games, recorder, classical music, movement and instruments. My hope is that students will love music so much that they will continue in intermediate school, high school and for the rest of their lives. Zoltan Kodaly said "Often a single experience will open the young soul to music for a whole lifetime" and that is my hope.

Mrs. Towner

Mrs. Towner's music class if filled with singing, instrument playing, dancing and social skills. We learn to read music, create from our heart and encourage each other to try, try, try. We make mistakes as musicians, especially learning new music and new concepts. It is ok to make mistakes! As long as we recognize them and improve upon them .

"Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music. "

"Education isn't just about feeding the brain. Art and music feed the heart and soul. "
