On-campus housing includes university dormitories (Dormitory 2) with shared and single room configurations, providing convenient access to academic facilities and campus services. Off-campus alternatives include private apartments and shared housing arrangements are also open for international students. Please be noted that off-campus alternatives have a it higher rental cost than on-campus housing.

Accommodation costs vary depending on the type of housing selected and specific amenities provided. On-campus dormitory fees typically range from 2,000 to 2,400 Baht per semester, while off-campus options may vary from 3,500 to 5,000 per month. All costs include basic utilities such as electricity, water, and WIFI. Insurance and keycard fee is excluded. Khon Kaen University and the surrounding city offer multiple transportation options for international students. The university provides shuttle bus services connecting various campus locations and nearby residential areas during regular operating hours. Public transportation includes city buses, songthaews (shared taxis), and tuk-tuks that serve major routes throughout Khon Kaen city (in town route). You can check the route map of shuttle bus here.

For personal transportation, motorcycle rentals are available for students with appropriate licensing. The university is well-connected to the city center and major shopping areas, ensuring convenient access to essential services and recreational facilities.

Healthcare services are readily accessible to international students at Khon Kaen University. The university maintains a health center on campus that provides basic medical services, health consultations, and emergency care during regular business hours at Srinagarind Hospital. 

All international students are required to maintain valid health insurance coverage throughout their enrollment period. Students may choose between university-recommended insurance plans or private health insurance policies that meet minimum coverage requirements (see Principles and Procedures for International Students’ Health Security). International students should budget approximately 9,000 to 10,000 Baht per month for living expenses in Khon Kaen, depending on lifestyle choices and accommodation preferences. This estimate includes accommodation, meals, transportation, personal expenses, and recreational activities.

The breakdown typically includes: accommodation, food and dining, local transportation, personal expenses and utilities, and miscellaneous costs. Students living in university dormitories or sharing accommodation may reduce overall expenses. The cost of living in Khon Kaen is generally lower compared to Bangkok and other major Thai cities, making it an affordable option for international students.

International students must prepare several essential documents for the Thai student visa (Non-Immigrant ED) application. Required documents include: a completed visa application form, valid passport with at least six months remaining validity, recent passport-sized photographs meeting official specifications, official letter of acceptance from Khon Kaen University, academic transcripts, certificates, and reference letter from previous institutions, and proof of financial capability to support studies and living expenses in Thailand.

Additional requirements may include a medical certificate confirming good health, police clearance certificate from the applicant's home country, and completed financial guarantee forms. Students can open savings accounts, access ATM services, and utilize online banking facilities. Required documents for opening a bank account typically include a valid passport, student visa, university enrollment confirmation, proof of local address, and confirmation letter from Faculty of Technology signatured by the Dean*. Many banks offer English-language customer service and provide debit cards for convenient access to funds. Some institutions also provide foreign currency exchange services and international money transfer options. Students are advised to compare banking fees, services, and branch locations to select the most suitable banking partner for their needs.

"Graduate Level: The admission period for the Faculty's Scholarship aligns with the Khon Kaen University Scholarship for ASEAN and GMS Countries' Personnel, which is coordinated and administered by the International Affairs Division. Based on current announcements, the application deadline is typically in January each year, with scholarship recipients announced approximately in March.

Undergraduate Level: International students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree, both full-time degree and non-degree programs, at the Faculty of Technology should apply directly by submitting International Student Enrollment Applications and sending required documents to kanokne@kku.ac.th.
