AIM : Students will create a business using plan that will utilize linear functions, linear systems and linear inequalities, and then pitch their business to lenders to see if they want to invest.
ⓣ: Students will use DESMOS Graphing Calculator to help them graph their functions & The Internet for their research.
ⓐ ⓜ : Students will use Applied Mathematical modeling to determine their Cost, Revenue and Profit Functions
Teacher Notes
◽ Project was introduced at the beginning of the Unit to promote interest
◽ After some lessons we discussed components of the project that were associated.
◽ Students tended to forget to cite their sources
◽ 1 day was spent in class on brainstorming and research
◽ 1 day was spent in class on the basics of Profit/ Revenue / Break Even Point
◽ 1 day was spent in class playing with Desmos
◽ Many students did not distribute correctly when subtracting R(X) - C(X) to obtain their profit function.
◽ On project day students were required to dress in business casual attire
◽ We used poll everywhere to decide if we wanted to "Invest" or "not" for entertainment (not for a grade), at the end of their presentations.
