Advanced Bikeability Level 2 / Level 3 Courses at Stanley Park High

This half term, 18th to 22nd February 2019, Sutton Council will be running a series of advanced Bikeability Level 2/Level 3 sessions at Stanley Park High. The sessions are for students who have previously achieved their Bikeability Level 2. They will cover a brief refresh of Bikeability Level 2 and then move on to Bikeability Level 3 .

Bikeability Level 3 training teaches the skills to tackle a wider variety of traffic conditions than Level 2. It is designed to equip trainees with skills that enable them be able to deal with all types of road conditions and more challenging traffic situations. The course covers dealing with hazards, making ‘on-the-move’ risk assessments and planning routes for safer cycling. The aims of Bikeability Level 3 course are:

• To encourage and develop safe cycling skills.

• To develop positive attitudes towards road use.

• To increase knowledge and understanding of the road and traffic environment.

• To give trainees the confidence to make journeys independently.

This training is for students that have already achieved Level 2. It assumes that they are confident cyclists and have carried on practising their road skills. The training will refresh on Level 2 skills and will aim primarily at making journeys independently. Level 3 may be achieved if the trainees demonstrate confidence using main roads, traffic lights and roundabouts.

We will have instructors available at Stanley Park High between the 18th and 22nd of February and they will be training children in small groups based on similar ability. Each session lasts 2 hours. Choose a 10:00 - 12:00 or 12:30 - 14.30 session. To register your child on the sessions please fill in the form below.
