Description
In this creative art camp, students will explore the vibrant world of jungle-themed dot paintings. Students use vibrant colors and layered dot patterns to depict animals, plants, and textures inspired by the lush tropical landscapes of Thailand. They will experiment with various dotting techniques and surfaces - such as on canvas, pencil holders, and keychains - building skills in fine motor control, pattern design, and self-expression. The session concludes with a student exhibition where they proudly showcase their dot masterpieces.
Course Detail
DAY 1: Jungle Animal Canvas Painting
Technique Focus: Walking the Dots
Project: Animal Dot Painting
In this Animal Dot Painting project, students will create a vibrant dot painting of a Thailand jungle animal on a 20cm canvas, choosing from creatures like an elephant, monitor lizard, tiger, gibbon, king cobra, or hornbill, or selecting another favorite wild animal. Using the Walking the Dots technique, students will mindfully create pathways of dots that transition from big to small, exploring shape, texture, and pattern as they bring their chosen animal to life with their own unique style and creativity. They can choose to draw the animal on their own or follow given templates and carbon paper for guidance. They may add flat applications of colors inside their shapes as a base, and then dot on the outline and inside of their shapes.
DAY 2: Jungle Pencil Holder & Tribal Keychain
Technique Focus: Swooshes
Project: Jungle-themed Pencil Holder and Tribal Keychain
In this Jungle-themed Pencil Holder and Tribal Keychain project, students will use the Swooshes technique to create curved, flowing trails of dots that evoke a sense of motion, rhythm, and energy. They may apply this technique to a pencil holder, inspired by jungle motifs, and a tribal-style keychain in the shape of a flower. As they work, students will explore the dynamic flow of their designs, using dots to add texture and movement, resulting in unique, functional art pieces that reflect their creativity and personal style.
