Underage Drinking Awareness Sticker Campaign

Description

The Healthy KP Substance Use Prevention Coalition’s Sticker Shock Awareness Campaign began on Thursday, May 30, and ended on Wednesday, June 5. The initiative sought to curb teen drinking and substance use before King Philip Regional High School’s prom on Friday, June 7, and graduation, on Sunday, June 9. Healthy KP printed 1,000 stickers for the campaign, which each read “Make the Right Choice for You and For Them,” “Don’t Provide Alcohol to Minors,” and “Penalties Include Up to a Year in Jail and/or $2,000 Fine.” Healthy KP was given permission by 10 local pizza establishments to place the stickers on their pizza boxes, including Aroma’s Italian Pizza and Roast Beef of Norfolk, Eagle Brook Restaurant and Pizza Express of Norfolk, Norfolk Town Pizza, Plainville House of Pizza, South Street Pizza of Plainville, Cafe Assisi of Wrentham, The Tavern Restaurant of Wrentham, Town Pizza of Wrentham and Wrentham House of Pizza. “Teen substance abuse is a huge concern during prom and graduation season, and this campaign was a great way to spread awareness about this issue in our communities,” said Kip Lewis, a member of Healthy KP and Assistant Principal of King Philip Regional High School. “We were fortunate that the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office supported this initiative, and thankful that they recognized our mission to promote healthy, safe decisions among our students.”
