Helping Others

On this page we share with you details of all our fund raising activities and events in aid of various different causes and charities.

Also included are occasions when we simply helped out in our own community

Epilepsy Awareness Day Tuesday 26th March 2019

Because it was Epilepsy Awareness Day on Tuesday 26th March, and also because we have children in school with epilepsy, we all came to school dressed in something purple to raise money for the Epilepsy Society. Children brought a donation into school and at morning break time some of the girls in Maple class held a cake sale. There was a huge queue of children wanting to buy cakes, and we did very well for a small school raising a grand total of £107.96.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who donated cakes for this event, your support is very much appreciated.

On Thursday 14th and Friday 15th March 2019, all the children at Kilsby School did their bit to help keep Kilsby tidy by going out and about around the village, in class groups, to pick up any litter they could see. They used special litter pickers to grab the rubbish to put it into their sacks and wore hi-vis jackets.

We hope the residents of Kilsby agree that the village is looking much tidier!

Children in Need

On Friday 16th November 2018, all the children came to school dressed in something spotty for the charity Children in Need.

We raised a grand total of £416.22 including a generous donation of £250 from the staff at Wilton Marina.

Here are brother and sister Max and Evie receiving the cheque from two of the staff from Wilton Marina, during Friday afternoon's assembly.

During October 2018, we have been working alongside St Faith's Church to help put together some gift boxes for desperately poor children and families at Christmas time. Some of these children live in tents in the mud, or in the back of container lorries, some have never ever received a present, so receiving gifts such as these means so much to them.

The children brought little gifts into school such as hairbrushes, toothbrushes, soft toys, colouring sets, sweets, etc. to put into shoe box sized, decorated gift boxes. This is something we do every year, and it is good to know that we are helping someone, somewhere in the world.

On Friday 5th October 2018, after the Harvest service at St Faith's Church, everyone was invited back to school for a coffee morning, all donations going to MacMillan Cancer Support. Thank you very much to all those who attended and donated cakes, we raised a grand total of £165.61 which is fantastic! Thank you!

On Friday 5th October 2018 all the children and staff attended the Harvest service at St Faith's Church, Kilsby with the Rev Nigel Fry.

Each class participated in the service. The children in Maple class concentrated on 'Poverty in the UK', Rowan class spoke of 'Harvest all around the world', the children in Cherry class read a 'Harvest poem' and the Reception children in Chestnut class expressed their own 'Thank you's for our food'. The House Captains also read some prayers during the service.

All the children brought beautiful harvest gifts to school before the service and later these were distributed around the village of Kilsby to the elderly residents. We have already received some thank you letters from the villagers!

On Friday 21st September 2018 everyone came to school wearing their jeans bringing a donation to the Genetic Disorders UK charity. This supports individuals and families affected by a genetic disorder.

The money we raised goes towards helping to fund the work of the charity and provide grants to organisations for projects that aim to transform the lives of children with genetic disorders. We raised a total of £111.42 so a big thank you to everyone, every penny counts.
