Slow computer and poor battery issues

Here are the different causes we will fix in this guide:

1. Check if your battery needs servicing.

Click on the battery icon near the top right of the screen.

If it says Service Battery, the battery will not be lasting long and your computer will be running slow.

Please bring your MacBook to IT for a service.

2. Close all Chrome tabs

3. Completely close all running apps

If you see a small black dot under an app in the dock, the app is actually still running.

You can close this app completely by right clicking and choosing quit. The black dot will disappear once it has closed.

4. Disable start-up apps

On your Mac, click the Apple icon in the top left. Choose System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.

Select your user account, then click Login Items at the top of the window.
