At the Artificial Intelligence & Management Science Lab (AIMS Lab), we explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence, optimization, and data-driven science to solve complex real-world problems in engineering, operations research, and industry. Our research bridges advanced algorithmic design with machine learning, control systems, and simulation technologies, aiming to build intelligent agents that adapt, learn, and make transparent decisions in dynamic environments. Our mission is to create a synergistic framework between AI and management science to tackle emerging challenges in science, engineering, and industry. We welcome collaborators and students passionate about shaping the future of intelligent systems. Our core research themes include:
AI Agent for Algorithm Design and Optimization
Development of AI agents, heuristic evolution, and the synergy between machine learning and combinatorial optimization—including LLMs and reinforcement learning for dynamic decision-making.
Physical AI and Digital Twin Systems
Integration of physics-based simulations, sensor data, and system identification with deep learning for real-time reconstruction, prediction, and control of complex systems.
Trustworthy and Applied AI
Explainable and robust AI methods for anomaly detection, and practical applications in manufacturing, quality control, and healthcare analytics.
Open Positions
We have open positions for Ph.D., M.S., and Undergraduate students. We are looking for self-motivated students who would like to conduct research at the frontier of artificial intelligence, manufacturing and healthcare analytics applications. The successful applicants will have opportunities to develop excellent skills in various aspects, including explainable AI, machine learning algorithms, manufacturing, and bio-health data analytics.
