Mental illnesses are incredibly widespread and many people in the US suffer from a range of Mental Health disorders. In America alone, 40 million adults are diagnosed with Anxiety disorders per year. Many people fear people with mental illnesses, when most of the time there are very few symptoms and are not dangerous at all. A mental illness is a pattern in someone’s behavior or mind that causes distress, or prevents them to function in some way. Mental Health Awareness expert Kavya Andersen says, “Recognizing the signs of mental ill health is not easy, especially as for some individuals’ feelings of being low may resurface sporadically. Mental health can affect anyone at any time” (Andersen, 1).
