Welcome to Ms. Chidley's Kindergarten Classroom Homepage
*WE ARE NOW A NUT FREE CLASSROOM*
I am very excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year and wish to welcome you and your child to the amazing world of Kindergarten. Kindergarten is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is an important year of transitions and growth. You will be amazed at your child’s academic progress! The adventure we are about to begin will be stimulating, demanding and fulfilling! Teaching your child is a tremendous responsibility and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience in this upcoming year. However, I cannot do this without the help of you, the parents. We are partners in the learning process!
Throughout the year, your child will learn, strengthen and expand their skills as readers, writers and mathematical problem-solvers as we tackle new concepts and challenges in all academic areas. I hope to make this year a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling. It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is capable, and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority.
This is my 2nd year at Khalsa School Calgary. I was previously employed as Lead Classroom Teacher at the Calgary Urban Project Society which is a Calgary based non-profit organization. I have my After Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta and a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Victoria. I have always loved teaching and working with kids, especially having had the opportunity to work with children in many different facets. I have worked as a Youth and Family Counsellor at Woods Homes addressing behavior resulting from trauma and neglect. My work experience also includes working as a Respite Worker for kids with disabilities and working at Margaret House for children with Autism.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I believe that parent-teacher relationships are necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate through my website, notes, telephone call, emails, report cards and parent teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns at any time! You can call me at the school, send me a note in your child's communication book or contact me via email Jennifer.email@example.com. I look forward to a fun and exciting school year and can't wait to meet and see your child’s smiling face!
