Blended Learning Program
"Success Through Resilience Independence Determination Engagement and Student Centred Learning"
Welcome to KGMS STRIDES Blended Learning Program! Our newest extension gives families of children with diverse needs the opportunity to forge new pathways to their child’s education through remote and hybrid learning opportunities!
"At Kenneth Gordon, we believe: That all students should have the opportunity to maximize their individual potential; That education is a journey and that students should have the power to follow their own individual paths to success; and, That school should strive to adapt to the needs of students, not students to the needs and structures of school."
The KGMS STRIDES Blended Learning Program is an outreach extension of Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School. Our program gives families of children with diverse needs the opportunity to forge new pathways to their child’s education through online and hybrid learning models. This program is built on our experience of over forty years of working with students with learning differences. KGMS STRIDES is dedicated to providing personalized learning pathways for families who feel traditional learning is not working for their unique learners. Guided by a B.C. Certified Teacher, we will provide your child with a unique education plan.
Your child's unique education plan with include a learning plan document that outlines the B.C. Curriculum guidelines along with resources, programs and service providers selected by you and the blended learning team. It will also include an IEP that will outline goals and objectives for language arts, math and social development. IEP's are reviewed twice per year after the initial document is developed.
These learning plans are meant to be highly collaborative and should be created based on the needs and interests of each learner and can be adapted throughout the school year.
Option #1: Remote Learning Program
Option #2: Hybrid Learning Program
Our mission is to further individualize our special education services and provide our students an opportunity to pursue education through their own personal interests and enable them to experience success in their educational endeavours. We hope to achieve this by teaching students to be resilient, independent, determined and engaged in their learning by providing a student centred learning approach.
