We are Barnabas Safe & Sound – a Morpeth based young people’s charity working in the heart of your local community. Established in 2001, Barnabas Safe & Sound is a trusted support service in Northumberland, offering a range of projects for young people.
We’re All About Young People - Our priority as a charity is to ensure young people are supported, that they have access to the right services, and are encouraged to unlock their potential through meaningful activity. We believe all young people should be embraced by their local community, so they can appreciate where they fit in society and value their own self-worth. We provide the following services to promote social, emotional, physical, and economic wellbeing amongst young people:
Youth Work – young person led projects including Peer Mentoring, Duke of Edinburgh, Gaming, detached youth work within Morpeth – and now, the fantastic JASS Award programme.
Information, advice, and guidance to young people when they have a question, and don’t know who to ask.
A home – we have been offering housing solutions for young people in Morpeth since 2001. We have provided safe accommodation to 300 young people in crisis, and many more young people have been supported to learn independent living skills to help them sustain their own tenancies.
The project we are focusing on at this years KEVI inspires is about getting young people into employment with basic training and experience in being a Barista, this will include some experience in local coffee shops which may lead on to employment. As well as Barista training, you will gain your food hygiene and allergy training. We are also in the process of gaining funds to deliver an event steward course, this will also include some work experience and potential employment.
