The temperament is the horse's most general disposition. A horse can be calm or high spirited, or anything in between. A high spirited horse will take chances to run off, if not kept in check. Meanwhile, a calm horse will slow down and come to a halt if allowed to.
The horse's personality is made up of its traits. Each horse has one defining trait and several secondary traits. Traits can affect stats, energy, and other things. Certain traits affect other traits, and trait effects will also stack. This way, a horse can get a very complex personality.
There are 6 defining traits. Each trait has 3 levels -- green, blue and purple, with purple being the best and rarest. The defining trait gives a permanent bonus in one or more stats. Here are the defining traits and the stats they give bonuses in:
The horse has 3 secondary traits: one General, one Performance and one Quirk trait. Secodary traits can have both good and bad effects on the horse.
The general trait represents the horse's general personality type. These are the general traits:
Clever - "An intelligence, resulting in a speed of learning."Â
Sensitive - "A sensitivity resulting in other factors affecting this horse a lot."
Dramatic - "A tendency to perform better in good form and even worse in bad."
Tough - "A toughness making it easier to stay in form but easier to get tired."
Ambitious - "An aspiration for greatness and a tendency to overreach that can lead to exhaustion."
Eccentric (High Spirited temperament only) - "This horse has a lot of energy and is very active. It may behave erratically, but it will also recover energy faster."
Adamant (Calm temperament only) - "An ability to stay calm under stress but a greater recovery time. "
Balanced (Medium temperament only) - "An ability to exert the right amount of energy to recover."
The performance trait is a physical characteristic. These are the performance traits:
Alert - "A focus on the rider that makes the horse respond easier."
Bulky - "A well-developed and robust build."
Persistent - "A stubborn mind that keeps the horse from giving up."
Light step - "An ability to turn on a dime, even at high speeds."
Sprinter - "A talent for sprinting at high speeds."
Overstep - "An excellent walking gait with a significant overstep."
Rhythm - "A pleasant and rhythmic trot gait."
Uphill canter - "A tendency to carry itself exceptionally well in the canter."
Careful - "A carefulness not to knock down poles."
The quirk trait says something about the horse's mood. These are the quirk traits:
Cranky - "A cranky mood, making it quick to anger but more responsive."
Joker - "A fast learner that bores easily and comes up with shenanigans. "
Proud - "A strength and integrity that doesn't tolerate rough handling or negligence."
Brave - "A willingness to challenge and overcome scary encounters."
Spooky - "A notoriously anxious disposition, making it prone to run away from scary encounters."
Happy-Go-Lucky - "A playfulness that can get in the way of training. "
