Auditions

Each camper is asked to submit a video audition to determine placement into the correct ensemble. There is a place for every student regardless of ability level. The audition is not meant to cause stress or anxiety. It is only a guide for our staff to provide the best experience for our campers. 

More details regarding camp auditions will be posted on the Audition information page in April.

Grand Finale Concert

On the last day of camp (Thursday), we will have a Grand Finale Concert to showcase the bands and the hard work from the week. Families are encouraged to attend! The concert will begin at 1:30pm in the Performing Arts Center at location to be determined.

Band Camp Theme Days

• Monday - Spirit Day! Wear your school's band shirt

• Tuesday - Neon Day! - Wear your brightest colors

• Wednesday - Hawaiian Shirt Day!

• Thursday - Concert Day! - Wear your Camp shirt (handed out during camp), school-appropriate shorts or jeans

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who can attend the KISD JH band camp?

A. This camp is open to all students entering grades 7, 8, or 9 for the 2026-2027 school year. 

Q. What to expect at camp each day?

A. Camp runs Monday-Thursday 8am-2pm. Students can be dropped off at 7:45am for check in at the PAC Lobby. They will spend the morning rotating between rehearsals, sectionals, and electives. We will have a camp gathering before our lunch break to watch the "Performances in the PAC" concert. 

*Lunch will NOT be provided. Students should bring a sack lunch on those days.  We will offer a concession stand with drinks and snacks (not necessarily meals) on those days.

Q. What electives are offered?

A. Students will rotate between the following, but exclusively to: Introduction to Jazz, Introduction to Marching (9th graders), and Music in the Movies, Composition 101. Each elective will be attended once and provide a fun break from the playing schedule.  Percussion students will have a special percussion ensemble elective where they will learn a piece to perform for the camp on Thursday during lunch.
