Meet Mrs. Hess

My name is Mrs. Katie Hess and I am so excited to a first grade teacher at KES! I grew up in Kutztown and I went to KES, too. It's a wonderful school and I am very happy to be back in its cheerful halls, but this time, as your teacher. I have been teaching for over 20 years and have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I have a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and am also certified in several other instructional areas. I love to teach, but I also love to learn. I spend a lot of time reading and I enjoy taking classes to learn new things! My husband, daughter, and I live in Kutztown and we have four spoiled pets. We also have a class pet named Marshmallow, who is a crested gecko. Something fun to know about me is that I was a contestant on the game show, Wheel of Fortune, and won an exciting trip to Hawaii!! In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, dabble in photography, shop at Target, travel to new places, and relax with a cup of coffee.
