Ms. Shannon Creager

Math Teacher / Dept. Head

Mathematics opens so many doors for us - science, law, art, architecture, economics, business, environmental sciences. The list is endless. One of my biggest joys is sharing all of this with my students!

I started teaching college mathematics in California after I graduated with an MA from San Francisco State University. I moved to Texas in 2008 and continued to teach college math. In 2014, I decided to make the change and start teaching high-school math. It took a year to earn my teaching credential, and in the meantime I was hired at KAPS. When I researched schools that were hiring, KAPS really drew me in with its small size and more student focused curriculum.

I have been teaching a total of 20 years; four of those years at KAPS.

What I enjoy the most about mathematics is identifying patterns and using patterns to solve problems in different ways.

Here are a few math quotes that I like:

“A mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems.” ~ Paul Erdos

“A fractal is a way of seeing infinity.” ~ Benoit Mandelbrot

“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty.” ~ Bertrand Russell
