Come with a vow to fulfill. Leave with the vow fulfilled.
In what way can we make our deceased parents learn the Great Tao so that they can go to Heaven?
When our parents are alive, we should fulfil our filial duties. But, if they are dead, we should try our best to help them to go to Heaven in order to enjoy eternal happiness. If we practise the Tao persistently, propagate the Great Tao and abstain from meat and wine forever, we shall be able to help our deceased parents go to Heaven.
What is doomsday?
From the time when Sky and Earth were created up to the time when they are to be destroyed, there are altogether twelve periods. The length of time for each period is ten thousand and eight hundred years. It is interesting to note that Sky and Earth were created in the first and the second periods respectively. Man however was created in the third period. From the first to the sixth period everything in the universe develops gradually. But, after the seventh period all things are subject to gradual destruction. Finally, man will be destroyed in the ninth period whereas Sky and Earth will be under complete destruction in the tenth and the eleventh periods respectively. The twelfth period is doomsday.
Man is now living in the “Eighth Period”. In other words, he has been living in this world for about sixty thousand years. Furthermore, the propagation of the Tao can be divided into three periods, namely, Qing Yang Period, the Hong Yang Period and the Bai Yang Period. The Qing Yang Period is referred to the time of Fu His. The most ancient personage of Chinese history.
The Hong Yang Period started from the Chou Dynasty.
Finally, the Bai Yang Period began from the Eighth Period. During this Bai Yang Period the Tai is widely propagated to save all good people. But, the bad people will suffer from natural disasters. It is evident that many people indulge in sex and wine and lead luxurious lives nowadays. They do not realize that they have their valuable Spirits, nor do they know where their Spirits come from and where they will go after death. They simply do whatever they like and act contrary to the Tao. Consequently, there are much violence and disasters all the world over. This is called “doomsday”. To prevent the coming of “doomsday”, we must practice the Tao with devotion and single-mindedness. We must realize that Heaven is our permanent home.
Is it true that we can help our deceased parents to go to Heaven?
Yes, it is. At first, God laid down the rule that only man could learn the Tao whereas the deceased people could not. However, since the sages asked God for permission, both man and his deceased ancestors were eventually allowed to learn the Great Tao.
Needless to say, when our parents are alive, we must render our filial respect to them. If our parents are dead, we should try our best to help them to get out of hell. In order to help our parents enjoy happiness in Heaven, we must learn the Tao and propagate it to the best of our abilities. At any rate, if all members of our families learn the Tao, we shall be able to help our deceased parents to go to Heaven.
When we learn the Tao, we know that there is an “easy” way to practice it. But, there is also the “more difficult” way. Can you explain these two methods of practicing the Tao?
The “easy” way is that our minds are easily allured by other things. For example, when we see a beautiful diamond, we are tempted by it. Similarly, when we hear some sweet music, we would like to listen to it. We shall not be able to preserve our Spirits if we adopt the “easy” way. However, the “more difficult” way is that we should resist temptation and get rid of our wrong desires, passion and depravity. Mencius said, “The method of practicing the Tao is very simple. We should get rid of our wrong desires in order to preserve our Eternal Spirit well.” Indeed, we ought to practice this method in order to good progress in the Tao.
Why is it that some people fall into illness all the time while other rarely get sick?
Many people fall into illness because they do not take good care of themselves. But, some people often suffer from illness, for they did evil affairs in the past. Very often we shall get sick if we eat too much. But, we shall be ill too if we are too greedy and always indulge in sex and wine. Obviously, if we are contented, we shall be happy all the time. Therefore, we should be contented even though we are poor. Furthermore, if we abstain from wine and meat, we shall not get sick easily. It is interesting to note that in China immediately after the Hang Dynasty many people suffered from starvation. But, one man was very healthy because he abstained from meat and wine for thirty years. So, if we obtain from meat and wine forever, we shall be healthy and strong too.
Why do we have to make a ritual for daily prayer? Is it because the Buddha and the Immortals are greedy for your prayers? The kowtow (prayers ritual) is for you to find your own nature, and the daily incense offering is for you to repent.
Don't underestimate the importance of kowtow. If you have anything to ask for, kowtow is the most spiritual thing you can do, so you should bow diligently, so that your debts can be repaid slowly.
Kowtow is like knocking at the door of heaven, when there is no desire, but only a heart similar to Heavenly Mother's. The time for offering incense is for you to clear your mind and reflect on what you have done. The following are the main functions of the morning and evening rituals of the White Period disciples:
Firstly, practicing home cultivation and living a Tao life is the first step to enter the White Period Cultivation, which is characterized by perseverance and diligence.
Secondly, we should cultivate the habit of worshipping the Buddhas in the morning and evening, and develop good habits of punctuality and trustworthiness in life and work.
Third, bowing to the Buddha can be a whole body movement, action breathing and breath, body, mind and spirit of unity and diligence.
Fourth, the morning and evening prayers to the Buddha to sharpen one's mind, let go of one's arrogance, bow down and level one's heart, and cultivate a humble mind.
Fifth, day by day with the Buddha's heart and mind, Buddha's heart and my heart to the Buddha's light and soul light, and always reflecting on each other, every day, so that our self-nature is getting brighter and brighter.
Sixth, the daily rituals, always holding the Three Treasures to observe the nature of the self-nature, follow the example of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who live in the world.
Seventh, learning and practicing mindfulness, we can receive the Buddha's and Bodhisattva's blessings, spirituality, and wisdom to fulfill our mindfulness.
Eight, always recite the sutra and train your eloquence, you will be able to constantly make witty remarks, and achieve unparalleled eloquence.
Ninth, recite the repentance silently in the morning and evening, you can restrain your body and mind, repent before the Buddha, reform yourself, and be enrolled in heaven.
Tenth, bowing to the Buddha as a family in the morning and evening promotes harmony in the family, realizes the Tao family, and realizes the Maitreya family.
Every day we bow down and worship the Buddha, and we also bow down to our own ancestors, which is called the merit transfer to our ancestors, and this is also the merit of opening a holy temple, and the power of our own self-nature is very great.

Mo-Guang-Liang temple host in Japan, the story of ferry people to attain Tao.
Knocking on the doors of 180,000 houses!
Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang, a Japanese Tao kin in his sixties, is a simple and sincere man. He came to Taiwan from Japan for the first time in 1989, and was introduced by a friend to a Taiwanese transmit master Chuang. Master Chuang, who had been educated in Japan since his childhood, and until he graduated from the university, Taiwan had not yet been restored from Japan, so he spoke fluent Japanese.
The two met for the first time, and they had a good conversation, and were quite friendly. Master Chuang saw that this man was simple in heart and could attain the Tao, so he tried his best to explain the nobility of the Tao and the greatness of the Tao Enlightenment by Holy Teacher, and finally he was able to attain the Tao.
Originally a farmer, Mo-Guang-Liang, his ancestors left a large piece of farmland to his wife, a virtuous Japanese woman, who had a deep sense of the Chinese traditions, and his three daughters were already married, so he and his wife lived a plain and simple life of a farmer in Hosojima, Ryuno Town, a suburb of Hyogo, Osaka, Japan.
One day, in his sleep, an immortal Buddha told him, "That birthmark on your right thigh is the proof that you have come from heaven to this world." When he woke up, he touched the birthmark on his leg, which looked like the shape of the moon, and suddenly felt that he had something to accomplish in this world.
However, he had just attained Tao had not even held any three-day Tao seminar, but his faith in the Tao was unshakable. Immediately after returning to Japan, he actively read holy books and studied the teachings of the Tao, and when he realized the great affinity of the Great Salvation of Three Worlds, and affirmed the dignity of the Tao of Heaven, he said, "The Tao is so precious, and it can actually ferry people to transcend life and death, which is a great thing," and said, "We must ferry people one by one. "
In his pure heart, he secretly affirmed the Tao, the Immortals and the Buddhas, and knew that it was the time of the end of the Third Periods of Calamity. In order to ferry all sentient beings, he took up the sacred mission on his shoulder, and as long as he was free from agricultural work, he went from house to house knocking on doors to ferry people to attain Tao.
At the age of nearly sixty, Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang has never held any three-day Tao seminar, but he is 100% sure of his faith in the Tao. Every morning he wakes up at four o'clock to take a cold shower and says, "This is how I train myself to practice the Tao. If I don't train myself, I will not be able to withstand the suffering and all kinds of endurance, so how can I face the suffering when it comes?"
He almost never ate breakfast, saying, "We can't eat all our blessings." He also said, "Because I once read the sutra of Shakyamuni Buddha, in which I read that when Shakyamuni Buddha first practiced Buddhism, he suffered for six years on a snowy mountain, and he only ate one hemp and one wheat a day, so I don't eat breakfast like this because I am telling myself that I want to begin to practice Tao, and that since I am going to practice Tao, I have to alleviate the desire for material things."
At the end of the morning, Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang worshiped his ancestors with great sincerity, and then his wife prepared two white rice balls for him for lunch and dinner without any dishes, sometimes bringing at most a small can of miso with some sesame seeds, which was the richest food he could eat, and a can of plain water.
In this way, he practically left his work in the fields to be taken care of by his wife, who was a virtuous woman, and only knocked on doors and ferried people every day. From Osaka Hyogo to Ashiya City, Sagano Hojo, Kobe, Hiroshima Fukuyama, Shizuoka, Himeji, Tokyo, Kako, Miki, Mita, Kato, Ono, Nara, Kyoto, and so on, he knocked on the doors of an average of eighty houses a day. He said, "For every 1,500 doors I knock on, I get one person to receive Tao."
Many people thought he was crazy, mentally ill, possessed, not quite sane, doing strange and absurd things, and some not only didn't open the door to let him in, but also spat at him and drove him away, and even called the police to arrest him.
Rarely, he never complained, became discouraged or angry, but just said he was sorry and left silently. Then he continued to go from house to house, bending his back and bending his body. His daily food never changed; it was always two white rice balls.
More and more of his relatives and friends criticized him, and even his wife blamed him for not paying enough attention to his mortal work, but he still didn't forget his mission, saying, "I must cooperate with the Heaven, and bring back the sentient beings."
Later, he has set up a holy temple, and the Living Buddha Holy Teacher has come to give him the name "Tian-En" (Heavenly Grace) for his holy temple.
Since he had visited almost all of the neighboring cities and not many people were able to attain the Tao, he bought a bicycle that could be folded up and started another long-distance ferrying mission by bringing rice, pots and small gas stoves with him every day.
Whenever he left home, he had to ride for at least five to six hours, knock on doors for five to six days, and then come back. Day after day, month after month, year after year, the places he traveled to became farther and farther away from his hometown, but his holy vow became greater and greater.
He recorded the events of each day in his diary, which he used to ferry all sentient beings. He told himself that no matter how tired he was, he must knock on at least eighty houses every day. In his diary, there is a paragraph that reads:
"The sun was already setting, I bent my back and continued on my way, I raised my hand and knocked on the door with joy, who knew that I would be scolded again before I even stepped in, and the sound of vulgar words echoed deeply in the back of my head."
"I stooped, hunched my back, and walked out with shaking hands. My feet ached even more, and I could hardly hold myself up, but as I looked at the slanting sun and thought of the urgency of the day, I dared not look back! I only hurried to another house..." (Recorded from the Bright Quarterly magazine)
Such situations were almost commonplace for him, but this lovely Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang never seemed to mind, only remembered his mission and wish, and had no regrets even when he was beaten and taken to the police station.
From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang knocked on the doors of 180,000 homes in Japan and built more than 20 holy temples, each of which, with the exception of his daughter, was originally a stranger who became a temple host.
In the process of ferrying sentient beings, he had many miracle manifestations under the blessing of the heavenly grace and holy teacher. For example, during one of his classes, he was touched by the presence of the Living Buddha Holy Teacher, who patted him on the shoulder and said, "Silly disciple, I'm so happy to have you, I had to rely on you in Japan! Don't worry about what you are doing, God will help you." The audience was touched by this.

Knocking on the doors of 180,000 houses!
Mo-Guang-Liang temple host in Japan, the story of ferry people to attain Tao.
Mo-Guang-Liang's family had a large piece of land, and when he went from house to house to ferry people, he was not afraid of any test. In order to give him peace of mind in his work, the Holy Teacher even sent the Land Deity to plow the land for him.
At harvest time, the radishes he grew at home were extraordinary, unlike ordinary radishes that always split at harvest time; even when he pulled them up with great force, every single radish was white and clean, with no cracks at all, and they were all snapped up by everyone at the market, fetching the highest price, which he and his wife were very touched to see.
If you hadn't joined the holy temple for a period of time, you would have thought that this was a fantasy story. Once a doctor who knew a lot about spiritualism met Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang and told him: "This holy temple of yours has a heavenly mandate," and said: "You have an ancestor following you." Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang did not know the reason for this, he just felt that there was always a force pushing him when he was going out to ferry people.
Later, in the holy temple Living Buddha Holy Teacher praised Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang compassionately, saying, "Your sincerity has touched the heavens, and all the Immortal Buddhas of the heavens rejoice and praise you, and if all the disciples were like you, the Immortals and Buddhas wouldn't have to worry so much. The Immortal Buddha wants to let you know that your ancestor of 1,300 years ago will let you know many things in the near future.''
Soon after that, he dreamt of his ancestors and his likeness was manifested on the portrait of his ancestors that he worshipped every day. The holy teacher mercifully told Mo-Guang-Liang that your merits can transcend your ancestors of 1,300 years ago. OOOOOO (his ancestor was originally a scholar who was sent by Japan to study in China, and who was a clean official at the time of Li Bai and Du Fu of the Tang Dynasty. At that time, he was appreciated by Emperor XuanZong of the Tang Dynasty and made great contributions to China. Later, he died in Luoyang, leaving behind a thick biography of his life. (Subsequently, Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang also went to the China to visit the country, which is omitted here.)
We know that to transcend one's own parents requires one level of merit, and to transcend one's grandfather requires an additional level, so Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang was worried and wondered: How much merit would it take to transcend an ancestor from 1,300 years ago?
In the end, the holt teacher patted him on the shoulder and said, "Silly disciple, true merit comes from one's own nature! This sincere heart of yours is already an infinite amount of merit, it is absolutely enough! Teacher permits you to to elevate him, so go and report it to your grand master."
Subsequently, through the kindness of the grand master, his father and his ancestors of 1,300 years ago were transcended and returned to the Supreme Heaven, attaining the position of "OO Da-Di,". (Excerpts from a class given by the transmit master)
The immortal Buddha said, "When a man's heart touches the heavens, the heavens will protect him forever!" Don't let your heart relax and hold on to a single thought. It's hard to meet the great Tao and now you are blessed, so you must share the burden on behalf of the Holy Teacher.
There have been many miracle manifestations of temple host Mo-Guang-Liang. For example, a Tao kin said that before he attained the Tao, once in a dream, Goddess of Mercy came to him and told him that someone would come to ferry him to attain the Tao, and ten days later, Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang and Transmit Master Chuang came to his house and attained the Tao.
Another time was during the great earthquake in Kobe, Japan. Master Chuang had three holy temples in the earthquake-stricken area, and while all the houses in the neighborhood collapsed one by one, the three holy temples in the epicenter of the disaster area were completely safe and sound.
摔倒鋼琴旁邊,所幸沒有受傷;
The most amazing thing was that one of them was the holy temple of Mo-Guang-Liang's daughter, which was located on the second floor of an apartment building that had eight floors. During the violent shaking of the earthquake, his daughter personally told Mr. Mo-Guang-Liang.
When the earthquake came, she heard all kinds of miserable shrieks, and the house shook very much, and she was so scared to see it in her room that she couldn't even light the holy lamps or use the three treasures, and she was shaken down and fell to the ground, next to the piano, but fortunately she wasn't hurt; and this building of hers had eight floors, but it collapsed from the eighth floor to the third, and the first floor was completely destroyed.
The first floor was also completely destroyed, but when she ran out to see it, she was the only one with a holy temple on the second floor, except for a small crack in the wall, the whole floor was safely located on the ground without collapsing.
She said that this catastrophe had made her realize the horror of calamities, and that if it were not for the preciousness of the Heavenly Tao and the infinite virtue of the Heaven and Holy Teacher, it would not have been possible for such an unimaginable thing to have happened.
我就決心整個人奉獻給老天』;
我就願意吃一切的苦;
Over the past six years, although Mo-Guang-Liang has suffered a lot and has been scolded a lot, he still insists that "Heaven's mandate is unimaginable" and that “the precious of the Tao Enlightenment by Holy Teacher”, and he still visits people everywhere to look for those who have the destiny to be saved.
He said, "When I realized the preciousness of Heaven's Tao, I was determined to dedicate myself to God." He personally told the Transmit Master, "I am willing to suffer as long as I think that I can save one person, and that Holy Teacher Ji-Gong will shed one less tear; I am already very grateful to the God for giving me this opportunity to have the Heavenly Tao to descend to the world to save people, to transcend life and death, and I must do it with all my strength, no matter what".
In his diary, he recorded that he knocked on 230 doors in one day. He said, "I'm getting old and my feet are getting sore, but I'm still going to go on and do what I have to do!

How do the good Spirits learn the Tao?
People who do a lot of good work to benefit mankind will become gods after death. But, they cannot go to Heaven as they do not learn the Great Tao. Evidently, it is rather difficult for the gods to learn the Tao. They must first of all look for appropriate people who will bring them to learn the Tao in order to go to Heaven.

The Three Treasures
Congratulations
Today is a special day, for you have received the
Tao. You have also been given the Three Treasures.
They will be extremely useful to you in your life as
well as your path of cultivation, but to fully utilize
them, you must first make sure you understand the
Tao.
What Is the Tao?
When you go through the initiation ritual, you are
said to have received the Tao. But what does that
mean? What is this Tao that you have received?
The word "Tao" is Chinese for the path, or the way.
It can take on many different meanings depending
on context. In one particular perspective, the Tao is
already a part of you, just as it is in everything, so it
isn't something you can receive.
In another perspective, the Tao is a path of spiritual
cultivation. It is a never-ending process as well as
your life journey. Thus, the Tao that you have
received from the Initiation Ritual is a direction. It is
pointing out the right path for you.
Words cannot fully express the Tao, but we can
speak of the Tao as the origin of everything that
exists, or the creator of the universe. Many people
call this creator God. In I-Kuan Tao, we call it Lao
Mu.
We can also describe the Tao as the force that
transcends all forces, or the principle that governs all
natural laws. It moves everything forward, including
time, life, all the stars and planets. From the spiritual
side, we can describe the Tao as the source of the
soul. Or, we can call it the ultimate spiritual truth
that gives rise to all the religions of mankind.
The meaning behind the name “I-Kuan Tao” is that
the Tao includes all of the above. In other words, the
Tao is that which unifies all into one. This is an
authentic tradition that focuses on the original,
formless, Great Tao.
What Are the Three Treasures?
The Three Treasures are spiritual practices that will
enrich yourself and protect you. The more you use
them, the more powerful they become. First, we
begin by understanding what they mean, and how
they can be used.
1. The Mystic Portal (The Right Door) 1.
The first Treasure is the Mystic Portal. It is the
spiritual nexus of your being. If the eyes are the
windows to the soul, then the portal is the proper
doorway.
Most people do not know much about the Mystic
Portal before they go through Tao initiation, but they
can still feel it. When you close your eyes and clasp
your hands together to pray, you naturally focus the
mind at the Mystic Portal.
When you frown because something troubles you, or
glare at someone out of anger, your Mystic Portal
shuts down, because anxiety or rage puts tremendous
pressure on this spiritual doorway. This cuts off your
soul from being able to connect with others. This is
why you feel distant from others when you are angry
or anxious. When you see someone in an extremely
negative state of mind, you may sense how difficult
it is to get through to him or her. These situations are
easy to understand from the Mystic Portal
perspective. It is the door to the soul. When it is
closed, the soul cannot be in touch with anyone.
Once this doorway has been pointed and opened by
an ordained Master in the initiation ritual, you can
use it in everyday life. In times of danger, it will help
you avoid disaster, and keep yourself safe.
Because of the frantic pace of modern life, we can
often find ourselves in chaotic situations. Our
thoughts are scattered everywhere, and we're pulled
in many directions, unsure of which way to go. In
such a situation, gather your mind at the Mystic
Portal. Your scattered thoughts will return to the
center. From the chaos, you find a path of clarity.
The Mystic Portal is the way to regain focus any
time you feel overwhelmed.
When a dangerous situation suddenly appears, it is
easy to succumb to fear and panic. This will only
confuse and overwhelm us even more, so we need to
use the Mystic Portal immediately, in order to
perceive the situation with calmness. This clarity
will give us the best chance to extricate ourselves
from danger.
If we can constantly keep the mind in the Mystic
Portal, then the true self will be constantly tranquil,
and the thoughts will be constantly clear. If the true
self is light, then the Mystical Portal is a way to
concentrate that light, increase its brilliance and
multiply its effectiveness. This is the first Treasure,
Mystic Portal.
2. The Mantra (The Wordless True Sutra) 2.
The second Treasure is the Wordless True Sutra. It
consists of sounds without words. It resonates with
us deep in the heart. It is beyond the ordinary sounds
and writings of the material world, for it is a mantra
of power.
This Treasure should not be said aloud or written
down. Since ancient times, sages have observed the
reading of sutras and realized the process contains
multiple stages. First, the eyes look at the words on a
page. Then, the words come out of the mouth as
sounds. Next, the sounds go into the ears as the
reader hears his or her own voice. Only after all this
does the sutra finally reach the heart and turns into
understanding.
Every transition in this process dilutes the power of
the sutra. If the sutra has no words, then the mouth
has nothing to read. If there are no sounds, the the
ears have nothing to hear. This sutra begins in the
mind, and ends in the mind. This is the most direct
way. It takes us to the level of the Wordless True
Sutra.
This concept goes back thousands of years. The Tao
Te Ching tells us that "The Tao that can be spoken is
not the eternal Tao." Similarly, when the Sakyamuni
Buddha wanted to pass on his true teachings, he
specifically told his disciples that his transmission of
spiritual essence would be totally apart from written
scripture. Instead, it would pass directly from heart
to heart. Thus, the sutra without words is the sutra of
the highest level.
Sound waves are the intermediary between the
physical world and the formless Tao. The Wordless
True Sutra, as the soundless sound, serves as a
bridge between human beings and Buddhas.
We can use the Wordless True Sutra when we
encounter difficulties in life. Perhaps you see
obstacles that seem too much to overcome; perhaps
there is a temptation that seems too strong to resist.
Whenever you feel you need extra strength to get
you over the hump, recite the mantra silently to
yourself. A wellspring of strength will emerge
within, as if the Buddhas have come to your aid.
難以克服;
Using the Wordless True Sutra will let you to tap
into more of your potential than you ever thought
possible. If obstacles in life are like the morning fog,
then the Wordless True Sutra is like the sun. When
the sun comes out, the fog dissipates into
nothingness, and you can see everything clearly.
This is the second Treasure, the Wordless True
Sutra.
3. The Covenant (The Hand Seal) 3.

meaning of this Treasure is nurturing love. It is a

The Hand Seal serves as a reminder of the child

right and wrong, judgement and criticism. The Hand
Seal also reminds us how precious this inner child is.
By using this Treasure, we can rediscover our
original nature through Tao cultivation.

divine agreement we have made with ourselves. It is

things right. We agree to walk the

At another level, the Hand Seal also represents the
divine agreement we have made with ourselves. It is
a contract we have signed with our conscience. In
this contract, we agree to be bound by the wisdom of
the highest self, to always do the right thing and do
things right. We agree to walk the positive path, and
become a positive influence to everyone around us.
In daily life, use the Hand Seal to bring you back to
your true self. The material world, with its
temptations and pressures, can taint the purity of
your original nature. It can twist emotions into envy,
jealousy, and even hatred. The moment you become
aware of this happening to you, let your hands come
together naturally and form the Hand Seal. Your
negative state of mind will transform into
contentment, serenity, and compassion.
Like the other Treasures, the Hand Seal can shield
you from harm. In a crisis, the Hand Seal will help
you maintain your safety and reduce your fears, so
you can get yourself out of danger. Your fate is
literally in your own hands. With the Hand Seal, you
are able to not just change your fate, but also create
your own destiny. This is the third Treasure, the
Hand Seal.
06How Do We Use the Three Treasures?
1. Ensure Your Safety
As you can see in the descriptions above, the Three
Treasures can often be used for personal protection.
They can help you avoid a dangerous situation in the
first place, or help you get out of a dangerous
situation once it has already occurred. They are
extremely effective in this protective role, and that is
why Tao cultivators will often describe using them
as sending a distress signal to divine entities who
will come to your rescue.
Whenever you sense danger, hold the Mystic Portal,
silently recite the Wordless True Sutra, and hold the
Hand Seal. The Three Treasures will minimize your
fears and panic, so you can clearly see the next steps
you should take. If you are already in trouble, the
Three Treasures will give you strength, courage and
resourcefulness — exactly what you need to help
yourself and anyone else who may also be in trouble.
2. Regain Your Calmness
We use the Three Treasures not only in times of
danger, but also in daily life. We all live in an ever-
changing world, and we face challenges and
obstacles all too frequently. We are often swamped
with things to do, stressed out by pressures from all
directions, and agitated by all kinds of anxieties.
瑣碎的事情,讓我們亂了方向;
Whenever you feel your mind becoming unsettled,
your thoughts becoming chaotic, put the Three
Treasures to use. Hold the Mystic Portal, silently
recite the Wordless True Sutra, and hold the Hand
Seal. Within seconds, you will regain your
composure as order emerges out of chaos, giving
you the ability to handle the situation. Frequent use
of the Three Treasure in this manner transforms you
into calmer and better version of yourself.
3. Deepen Your Meditation
The Three Treasures are particularly powerful when
you use them in conjunction with your meditative
practice. You can use them in sitting meditation,
even for a short while. The Three Treasures will
amplify the meditative effect to relax your mind,
thus bringing a profound peace to your entire being.
You can also use the Three Treasures in conjunction
with I-Kuan Tao rituals. While in the ritual, your
hands are in motion with the Hand Seal, while your
mind is holding still in the Mystic Portal. As you go
through the meditative motions of the ritual,
immersed in the depth of humility and respect, your
spiritual energy gathers together, and your scattered
thoughts return to oneness.
Additional Information
Aside from the Three Treasures are, there are several
topics of note, as below:
The Three Mentors 三師
You are now part of the Great Family of the Tao. In
this Family, we have the ordained Masters. They are
responsible for leading the community, conducting
the rituals, and maintaining the temple. They
represent Heaven in transmitting the Three Treasures
to you.
Every I-Kuan Tao member has an Introducer and a
Guarantor. The Introducer is the person who has
introduced you to I-Kuan Tao. The Guarantor is the
person who vouches for your good character.
Together, the Master, Introducer and Guarantor are
the Three Mentors. They have taken you on this
illuminated path of the Great Tao. We should always
remember them.
Initiation Card
Today, you will receive a card with the names of the
Master, Introducer and Guarantor. It will also have
today’s date and the location of the shrine where
your initiation ritual took place.
Keep this card with you. It represents a new
beginning. It marks a new starting point in your life,
like a new chapter of a book. Whenever you see this
card, you will recall to mind today’s ritual — the
instruction of the Master, the guidance of your
Introducer and Guarantor, the application of the
Three Treasures, and the priceless value of the
precious Tao.
The Token of Merit 功德費
The Token of Merit is an important part of the
initiation ritual. The temple collects the Token of
Merit from you for the purpose of publishing and
distributing books about the Tao on your behalf.
These books are freely shared with the public, and
are an excellent way to create positive karmic
connections. The Token of Merit is paid only once,
just like one goes through Tao initiation only once
per lifetime. Whatever additional contributions you
wish to make will be completely up to you.
More importantly, when you give your Token of
Merit, you have initiated powerful karma for
yourself. It is as if you have opened up a heavenly
account to keep track of your merits. From this point
on, your compassionate thoughts, your encouraging
words, and your virtuous actions will all add to this
account.
It won’t be long before this account starts paying
dividends. The positive energy you have invested
into the world will all come back to you. Soon, you
will find that the accumulation of your heavenly
account reflects the the growth and development of
your soul. You begin to see that your cultivation is
the result of your efforts.
Conclusion 結論
The Three Treasures are meant for those who have
gone through the Initiation Ritual. Therefore, the
temple asks that you not reveal any information
about the Three Treasures to others. The Tao is open
to all, so anyone who would like to have the Three
Treasures can go through the ritual to request the
Tao for themselves, just as you have.
Keep in touch with the temple and your Three
Mentors. Do not forget the date and place of your
Ritual. More importantly, do not forget your Tao
Family. Return to the temple whenever you can, to
reconnect with like-minded Tao cultivators, make
new connections, and elevate your spirituality.
Congratulations once again on receiving the Tao and
the Three Treasures. May your path ahead be filled
with joy and blessings!

The troubles and worries we face in our daily life mostly result from our disregard of the true self.
Merciful God makes Dao available to everybody in order to save the good people.
In order to fulfill and satisfy the sensational desires of the false self, we may commit wrong-doings and harm others, eventually creating troubles for ourselves.
The enlightenment of Dao is superior to studying thousands of sutras.
All those who wish to be my true disciples must carry his own cross.
Why are there still pain and sufferings since we already have learnt the Tao?
It is true that we still experience pain and sufferings even though we have learnt the Great Tao. The reason is that without pain and sufferings we could not strengthen our character or express our great confidence in the Tao.
It is interesting to note that although Confucius at a time suffered from hunger, yet he was contented and happy. He still persisted to the principles of the Great Tao even though he was on the verge of starvation. Indeed, Confucius erected a very good example for us. Mencius said, “If one takes up a great responsibility, one will first have to undergo all kinds of sufferings” Therefore, pain and sufferings are good for us as our capacity for responsible humanitarian work will be developed and strengthened in this way. Our patience can also be tested only when there are pain and sufferings.
Why is there criticism against the Great Tao?
The reason why some people criticize the Tao is that they do not understand how valuable the Great Tao is. In fact, the Tao is true. If the Tao were not criticizes by the ignorant people, the Tao would not be widely propagated to all of us.
Moreover, blasphemy and criticism are good for us because we are able to repent our sins. Confucius, for example, was rebuked by many ignorant people when he was going everywhere to spread the Great Tao in past days. He said, “A man feels no regret even though he may be unknown. It is only a sage who is able to live in this way.” Despite all these criticism during his lifetime, Confucius is now worshipped by everyone of us. Undoubtedly, criticism against the Tao does no harm to the Great Tao at all. On the contrary, it helps propagate the Tao.

7. Is it easy to learn the Tao?
No, it is not. As a matter of fact, there are many difficulties.
First, it is not easy for us to be human beings. We just imagine that wild animals do not have the opportunity to learn the Tao. Furthermore, our Eternal Spirits exist within our bodies, without our bodies, we cannot preserve our valuable Spirits. In other words, by making use of our bodies, we can preach the Tao, understand the excellence of the Tao and teach others to behave well. We must therefore take good care of ourselves.
Secondly, it is not easy to learn the Great Tao. The Tao is widely propagated nowadays to rescues mankind owing to the fact that the world is now flooded with disasters and violence. Evidently, if the world were not full of natural disaster nowadays, the Tao would not be widely spread. It is therefore a rare opportunity for us to learn the Tao.
Thirdly, it is difficult for us to learn the Tao because there are many kinds of religions nowadays, but there is only one genuine Tao. Without learning the Tao, we shall not be able to save ourselves from disasters.
In conclusion, it is not easy for us to learn the Great Tao.
6. Can we avoid the Birth-Death cycle?
Yes, we can. It is plain that people who do evil affairs during their lives will become dogs, cats or demons or suffer in hell after death. But, the kind people who accumulate goodness will become human beings again or become gods after death. Unfortunately, they cannot go to Heaven because they do not learn the Great Tao. After learning the Tao, we must improve ourselves in order to go to Heaven after death. As a matter of fact, it is not easy to hear about the Tao. We are able to learn the Tao at this moment simply because the world is now flooded with violence and disasters.
Emperor Sun Zi, who became a monk when he was old said, “Before I was born, I didn’t know who I was. After being born, I don’t know who I am. Being an adult, I know who I am. When I die, I don’t know who I shall be.” Nobody knows where I come from and where I shall go. Why should I live in this world without doing something useful? I prefer to be unborn. Then I will have no worries or sorrows at all.
Therefore, we shall never go to hell if we learn the Tao. Indeed, the Tao enables us to lead a better and meaningful life.
