Welcome to the official website for the 2017 Georgia Gold Star Fathers Recognition Event!

Georgia Gold Star Father Day is Thursday, November 9, 2017!

During the 2017 Legislative Session, Resolution 723 passed the Georgia House of Representatives, officially recognizing November 9, 2017 as Gold Star Father Day in our state.

In an effort to provide comfort and sympathy to mothers who lost their children to military service and care for hospitalized veterans, Grace Darling Siebold founded American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. after her son was killed in action during World War I.

Decades later, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Gold Star Fathers Act of 2015, which provided fathers of fallen or previously disabled service members the same benefits shown mothers. Gold Star Fathers, Mothers, and Families are also honored throughout the United States year-round.
