Kaimukī
2 College
What is Kaimukī 2 College (K2C)?
This program offers students the opportunity to earn free college credit while taking courses on the Kaimukī High School (KHS) campus that are offered during both the fall and spring semesters. Instructors from Kapiʻolani Community College (KapCC) commute to KHS, or offer courses online, to teach college level courses that will garner you credits valid for both high school and college. Students will also have the opportunity to take KapCC courses at the KapCC campus. Prospective students must demonstrate the ability to take college level courses by earning minimum required scores in one of the KapCC Placement Test options.
ACT English score of at least 18 or EdReady score of at least 64
SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of at least 480 or EdReady score of at least 64
Math placement scores through EdReady
What is EdReady?
EdReady is a FREE online placement test that can be completed in the comforts of the student’s home. In order to take EdReady, students must first apply to KapCC by going to apply.hawaii.edu and clicking on “Kapi‘olani” to start the application process. This will generate an University of Hawai‘i identification number, which will allow students to take the EdReady. After students have submitted an application, they are to contact Alfie Gonzales, KapCC Outreach Counselor, at alfredg@hawaii.edu, to discuss their next steps with EdReady. This test must be done on a computer, not a tablet or phone, with reliable internet access. If students need access to a computer, they can contact Aunty May in the CCTC to request use of the CCTC computers.
How Can I Participate?
All KHS students who have earned qualifying placement test scores may start the process to participate in K2C under KapCC’s Dual Credit Program. The following MUST be completed by the deadline set by KHS.
