A few words from the co-founders...

Welcome to the Patriot Post, John Jay's long-awaited return to a student-run news publication. As co-founders, Dylan Barbosa and Aisha Sow, we are thrilled to embark on this journey of amplifying student voices and telling the stories within our community and beyond.

Why did we choose to start this newspaper? Simply put, we believe in the power of storytelling and keeping people informed. John Jay is far too big of a school to go without its own paper, so we thought it was absolutely vital to bring forth the Patriot Post. Each of us carries a unique perspective, and within our school, there are countless stories waiting to be told. We wanted to create a platform where these stories could find a voice, where students could share their experiences, opinions, and perspectives.

In our rapidly changing world, it's essential to stay informed and engaged with what's happening around us. By bringing a spotlight to student voices, we aim to foster a sense of community and connection within our school. We want to celebrate achievements, address issues, and spark meaningful conversations that resonate with our diverse student body.

But our aspirations go beyond the confines of our school walls. We aim to bridge the gap between our school and the wider community, sharing stories that reflect not only our experiences but also the world around us. By doing so, we hope to foster empathy, understanding, and a sense of unity that extends beyond school grounds.

We are excited to embark on this journey with you, our fellow students. We encourage you to share your stories, your ideas, and your passions. Together, let's make our school newspaper a vibrant reflection of who we are and what we stand for.

Sincerely,

Dylan Barbosa and Aisha Sow
