Math Olympiad

What is Math O?

Math Olympiad is extra curricular activity for 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Math O is a fun way to expand math skills and find ways to apply them to practical problems. Math coaches and parent volunteers strive to keep the activities fun and engaging.

Your child doesn’t have to be good at math to participate. During Math O season, students meet weekly to practice math problems, learn strategies, play games, and have fun learning math. The highlight for students is a culminating District-wide Math Olympiad competition to be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 where 700+ Shoreline students compete in team and individual math contests.

Our goal is to ensure every student has access to this popular program! The number of Mathletes has grown from 30 in 2017 to 90 in 2018. Due this increased popularity, we ask participating families to donate $35 if they are able. This money will allow us to ensure every Mathlete has a Brookside Math Olympiad t-shirt as well as lunch and snacks on the day of the competition.
