This is a year long course broken down by semester.
Students have the opportunity to learn about security in four distinct areas:
Personal security
Foundations of security technologies and cybersecurity in the justice system
Website/web app security
Network security
Students have access to great labs to help with initial familiarity of concepts. Students also get the opportunity to see what it is like to look at secure systems from the perspective of bad actors. Students get the opportunity to further their understanding of concepts and skill growth through capture the flag competitions such as CyberPatriots, picoCTF, and CX3.
Throughout the year students develop materials to explain important cybersecurity topics for others to better understand and protect themselves. Students also work on essential workplace skills such as developing solid easily understood reports and writing for different types of audiences. While much of the class is technical in nature, students have the opportunity to gain practical skills.
