Dual Credit

What is dual credit?

  • Opportunity for high school students to enroll in college courses and earn credits towards their high school diploma while starting on a college degree

  • Available to high school students in grades 11-12 athe the rate of $48.33 per credit (this is subject to change)

  • Students are able to choose general education courses from a variety of disciplines available on-campus or online formats

Why dual credit?

  • Students who participate in the dual credit program can begin college with a portion of general education requirements already complete

  • They can more easily add a second major, add minors, consider study abroad programs, participate in undergraduate research, take advantage of internship opportunities and have extra time to serve in student organizations and leadership roles on campus


Eligibility

The admission requirements are as follows:

  1. High school JUNIOR eligible to enroll in high school in South Dakota who meets one of the following requirements:

a. ACT composite score of 24 reflective of the 70th percentile; OR

b. Rank in the upper one-third of graduating class; OR

c. Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale

  1. High school SENIOR eligible to enroll in a high school in South Dakota who meets one of the following requirements:

a. ACT composite score of 21 reflective of the 50th percentile; OR

b. Rank in the upper one-half of graduating class; OR

c. Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale

  1. Take one of the assessments below and meet required score(s):

a. 10th Grade ACT Aspire Summative Assessment - Score of 434 or higher

b. Accuplacer
