FUNDAMENTALS OF MOVEMENT & FITNESS

Length/Credit:      May be Repeated, 0.5 or 1 credit

Prerequisite:          None

This course is designed to encourage lifelong fitness activities and may include part or all of the following: the development of gross motor skills, positive social skills and sportsmanship, stamina and cardiovascular endurance, and balance and coordination. Students engage in activities that promote interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and relationship building while engaging in fitness and movement activities.

RECREATION/LEISURE SKILLS

Length/Credit:      Non-credit

This course is taught in a 25-minute period opposite lunch.

Students participating in Recreation/Leisure skills class learn to interact cooperatively with peers; learn and explore free time with age appropriate activities; and learn socially appropriate behavior while engaging in recreational activities.

FUNDAMENTALS OF VISUAL ARTS

This course teaches students to recognize, appreciate, and/or relate to visual art. Students will use art as a means for creative self-expression & interpersonal communication; work towards understanding and applying media, techniques, and processes; be exposed to visual arts in relation to history and cultures; reflect on and critique their artwork and that of others; show knowledge of structures and functions such as a color wheel and shapes; and select and use various subject matter to communicate meaning.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SOCIAL SKILLS I

Prerequisite:          None

This class is designed to assist students in learning and applying appropriate social skills in different situations. The course will focus on emotions, communications, decisions, consequences and relationships.
