Choice Boards
HIDOE At-Home Learning Choice Boards
The Choice Board learning opportunities are shared to provide support to families and students with guidance from the classroom teacher. The activities serve as reinforcement and supplemental, so if your child is not familiar with a topic, you can skip it or try it. The first two weeks focus on the four core subject areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Computer Science, Fine Arts, Health, Physical Education, and World Language are included beginning Week 3. There are nine weeks of content provided that may be adjusted to meet the needs of the school.
Work together to look through the available choices and make a plan for the days learning will take place from home. You can also revisit choices from previous days/weeks that you did not try or want to try again!
As you work through these activities, please be mindful of everyone’s personal health and well-being. Be safe, provide the necessary supervision for your child.
NOTE: Suggested online activities are optional. Some sites may require you to create an account and login. Please review all site terms before creating an account. You are not required to login to any platform if you do not feel comfortable in doing so.
Teacher Guidance
Teachers may identify and select the activities that align with their current instruction to assign to students while they are learning at home. Teachers should provide any additional guidance to parents as appropriate that is not included on the Choice Board pages.
A sample Choice Board Learning Log is provided to capture documentation in addition to the work students have completed. Teachers may modify or create their own documentation forms as well.
The following is a sample flyer that teachers may edit for parent communication (if needed).
