Senior Capstone presentation day is only possible due to tremendous support from our community. Judges come from our school staff, feeder schools, and community partners.
All seniors are required to complete a capstone presentation. These presentations are mandatory components for participation in our graduation commencement exercises. Each senior is asked to choose a topic and present to showcase their capabilities. Students have selected a wide variety of topics, some of which include mo'oku'auhau, tying knots, wrestling, music, construction, tiny homes, marine biology, microplastics, music, video production, and more.
What to expect for judges:
Presentations run for 4 hours with 1 hour time slots. Judges can sign up for one or more sessions and are not required to stay for all 4 sessions. Each 1 hour session will view four capstone presentations.
Each room has a head judge who is a Molokai High staff member and the rest of the panel is made up of 2-3 additional community members.
Each judge fills out a rubric evaluating each presentation, and the head judge will make the ultimate decision whether the student passes based on all of the rubrics collected.
Questions from judges are encouraged. There is a 5 minute window for questions for each student.
Parents of seniors may sit in, but are NOT allowed to be a judge in their child's room.
