Instruction begins daily at 8:00 a.m. A warning bell will ring at 7:55 a.m. and students will be marked tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:05 a.m.
Students are dismissed at 2:10 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays, students are dismissed at 1:20 p.m.
Yes, breakfast and lunch are available. Breakfast will be served from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Funds from the Community Eligibility Provision allow each student to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch per day.
Keaʻau Elementary students will return to school on Tuesday, August 8th.
Your child's teacher will contact you. There will no longer be class lists posted outside of our office.
Keaʻau Elementary will provide all school supplies for students. Students should bring their own backpack and water bottle to school daily.
Yes, however we ask that you fill out the volunteer packet and wait for confirmation that you have been approved to volunteer and have a staff member to report to for volunteer tasks.
Yes. due to food safety guidelines we recommend providing food and drinks that are store bought or made in a certified kitchen. Thank you for this consideration.
Student drop off begins at 7:00 am.
Pick-up is from 2:10 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.(M, Tu, Th, F) and 1:20 - 2:00 p.m. (W). Students should be picked up by the designated time, unless in an afterschool program.
If you would like to pick up your child early, you must notify the office by 1:30 p.m. (M, Tu, Th, F) or 12:30 p.m. (W). We may not be able to accommodate later requests, so please plan accordingly.
Please call the office prior to your pick-up time to have the early release slip prepared. This will expedite the process. However, your child will not be released from class to the office until you arrive to sign them out.
Yes. A+ will be available on the first day of school, August 2nd, to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Parents must apply for the program on a first-come-first-served basis. Applications are available in the office.
Yes, all KES students will return to campus on a normal school schedule five days a week.
All students and staff will continue to wear masks while indoors. Outdoor mask wearing remains optional. As DOE guidelines are updated, this expectation may change.
Hand washing and regular cleaning will continue to take place. Adequate supplies are provided to ensure frequent hand washing and sanitizing occur throughout the day.
Please be sure your child is feeling well before bringing them to school (e.g. no fever above 100.4, sneezing, coughing, stomachaches, chills, etc.)
To the extent possible, students will be spaced out while in the classrooms and in the cafeteria during lunch.
Unfortunately, no. Due to the increased cases of COVID on our island, parents are not allowed on campus at this time. Parents are only allowed on campus to drop off/pick up students while remaining in their car.

Kea'au Elementary School will utilize ParentSquare for all communication with our families via text messages and emails. Please ensure that your cell phone and email address is continuously updated with our school office. More information will be sent home on the first day of school in the back-to-school packet.

Families who are interested in daily transportation can apply online. (<-- clickable link). You will need your child's school ID number in order to complete the online application. You can find their ID number on any of the report cards or you can contact our school office at 313-4600 for that information. If you are unable to complete the application online, you can pick up a hard-copy application in the main office.
Kindergarten teachers are already in contact with our kindergarten families and will soon assign students to either Group A or Group B. Click here to view the Kindergarten transition calendar.
All uniforms will be available for purchase at the Keaʻau Elementary School office. Office hours are 7:30 - 4:30 (Monday - Friday). Feel free to call 313-4600 to see if your sizes are available. Online ordering is not available at this time.

All Keaʻau Elementary students in preschool through 5th grade are expected to wear their uniforms Monday through Thursday.
Yes, Fridays are free dress days. Please ensure your child dresses appropriately for school. If Friday is a holiday, students are still expected to wear uniforms on a Thursday.
