While it may be hard to have a balance between school and outside life, former student council vice president Andraya Duldulao, a senior at Kalaheo, has seemed to figure it out. Despite Andraya only having four classes (physics, ceramics, statistics, and AP literature), she is a business owner, employee, intern, and club president. She plans to attend UH Manoa in the fall to pursue nursing. Over the summer, she started her own jewelry business known as SunRaya. She started making jewelry for her friends after taking Ms. Tara's jewelry class last year. Andraya has always wanted to have a business, so when she saw this opportunity, she took it. Andraya said, “I wanted to have a small business that I could work on whenever I wanted to, that would help benefit other people, inspire others, and give other people things.”
You can find her fabulous jewelry at Kailua Morning Brew, and on her Instagram @shopsunraya where you can find her Instagram business link. Andraya works at the Starbucks in Aikahi three to four times a week and for six-hour shifts. She loves her job but finds it challenging to balance everything. “The AP classes are a lot of work. On Tuesday mornings, I work on my assignments and I also work during recess and lunch. It is tough to work on things outside of school.
This is the toughest year because I do take some hard classes and I’m doing a lot of outside work, so it is hard to balance everything. It is the hardest to have the motivation to go to school because of senioritis.” Andraya attends Anchor Church in Kaneohe and she is a part of Anchor Youth, a youth group of middle school and high school students. On top of attending Anchor Church, she is the President and founder of the new Christian club on campus known as Revival. They meet every other Thursday during lunch in Mrs. Koopman’s room, and they have once-a-month activities outside of school. Andraya loves to help people, and she believes that it is one of God’s greatest gifts you can give.
